This is a book I’m working on. This is simply a draft of the prologue.
The world is torn by plague, yet a young boy named Victor sits at his window sill.
The world is torn by war, yet he looked up at the sky.
The world was torn by famine, yet he worried for his mother.
The world was torn by death yet he wished for a light that would save the world. He wished upon his favorite star.
The sky granted his wish.
Then, the Starlight Daughter was born. She floated down to Victor’s window. She dazzled and glittered so bright that she nearly blinded the boy. When she stopped sparkling, he could finally see what she looked like.
She was a young girl, about his age. She had dark skin but bright, white hair. She was wearing a long yellow gown that went down to her ankles.
“Who- who are you?” Victor called out. The girl didn’t say anything. She collapsed right into his arms. He was shocked. He held her tight. She was as warm as sunlight. He ran out of his room to fetch his mother.
The boy’s mother was shocked. “Victor, how did this young girl get here?” She scolded.
“I made a wish and- and she flew down in a flash of light, right in front of my window!” Victor replied eagerly.
“That is ridiculous!” Victor’s mother questioned him more and more but gave the same reply.
“Can she stay? Pleaseeee?” Victor’s eyes sparkled. His mother shifted uncomfortably. “I’ve always wanted a sister! And she flew down in a flash of light! That must mean she was meant to be here!” Victor cried. The young boy held the girl tightly.
“Alright, she can stay for now,” said Victor’s mother. The girl began to wake. “Hand her to me, Victor.”
Victor’s mother carried the girl away to the spare room to look after her.
Victor walked back to his room, glancing back occasionally. He could barely contain the joy in his heart. Has his wish really come true? If so, his new sister was going to change the world!
